The football photo of the team incl. Bro.Dell, that I managed to retrieve from my laptop, I believe was taken in 1959 and the Anglo-American section was to play the Italian-Lebanese section.
As a youngster who attended the Salesian Boys School in 1965, I have long wondered if anyone knows whether Brother Dell is still with us (here in 2011) and if anyone is in touch with Brother Dell — or, Brother Montgomery, for that matter. What a wonderful school and such dedicated and inspiring teachers in the Salesian Order. If anyone has any information on Bro. Dell or Bro. Montgomery, please do post any thoughts here. Thanks very much.
What’s this first picture?? The site of the school after it was demolished? I have a vivid memory of the last day in spring of 75 my dad tried to drop me off at school and Father Lahey was out front waving us all off… He was frantic and wouldnt even talk just simply making people leave… sad but thats my last memory of the school. I was stuck with my dad who worked for Singer 2nd floor of the Starco building and when we got there there were a few people from his work hanging out in the cafe but no work that day… I think Amal was skirmishing with Tonys Tigers and the Phalange in the hotel district. Because my dad says there were bodies on the sidewalks which i have convienently blocked out and I do remember him saying to me don’t be too obvious but look at that car behind us and i did and it was packed so full of guys they had to hang their machine guns out the windows and they were obviously looking for trouble… I have no idea what side they were on.
